The Migration Journey

Step-by-step: how your application progresses

1

Initial enquiry and assessment

Contact us via phone, email or the online form. We review your background — occupation, qualifications, age, English ability, family — and identify all suitable visa pathways.

2

Written advice and engagement

We provide written advice confirming the best visa strategy and what you need to do. You formally engage AHK Migration to represent you.

3

Skills assessment (if required)

For skilled and employer sponsored visas, we guide you through the skills assessment process with the relevant Australian assessing body.

4

EOI and invitation (for points-tested visas)

We lodge your Expression of Interest in SkillSelect and advise you when to expect an invitation based on current points thresholds.

5

Application preparation and lodgement

We prepare and review all forms, compile your documents, write a supporting submission, and lodge the visa application with the Department of Home Affairs.

6

Monitoring and responding to requests

We monitor your application and respond promptly to any requests for additional information or health and character clearances from the Department.

7

Visa grant and beyond

If Things Go Wrong

Refused? We can help.

Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT)

If your visa application has been refused by the Department of Home Affairs while you are in Australia, you may be able to appeal the decision to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.

AHK Migration Solution has experience representing clients at the AAT, including complex refugee and protection visa appeals. We prepare thorough written submissions and supporting evidence.

  • All on-shore visa refusals (where review rights exist)
  • Refugee and protection visa appeals
  • Partner and family visa refusals
  • Employer sponsored visa refusals

Ministerial Intervention

After an unsuccessful AAT hearing, the Minister for Home Affairs has discretionary power to substitute a more favourable decision. This is a limited but important last resort.

We prepare a compelling case for Ministerial Intervention, identifying exceptional and compelling circumstances and presenting them clearly to the Minister's delegate.

Time limits apply to AAT appeals, so contact us as soon as possible after receiving a refusal letter to understand your review rights and options.
